“Institute for Mathematics in Advanced Interdisciplinary Study” has been established in Sapporo, Japan at the occasion of organization of “The 6-th Pacific RIM Conference on Mathematics” (chief organizer: Professor Yoshikazu Giga, The University of Tokyo). This institute intends to promote researches in mathematics to develop mathematical ideas and methods for various sciences and technology especially in Japan. Major activities include supporting organization of international conferences and workshops as well as advising researchers in various disciplines from mathematical point of view.
